About the Event

Happy 94th Birthday to Yayoi Kusama! Join the JASC in a presentation about the life and art work of this legendary
artist. This lecture will offer details of Kusama’s career, which has spanned seven decades, and include Kusama’s life
in Japan, and her travels to the United States. The presentation will feature Kusama’s art work in various formats,
including her painting, sculpture and installation. It will also highlight her fashion projects, and the current collaboration
with Louis Vuitton: Louis Vuitton® x Yayoi Kusama Collection.

About the Speaker

Mary Ellen MurphyMary Ellen Murphy has been a Volunteer Docent with Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art for over 10
years. As a Volunteer supporting the museum’s education department, she conducts tours for the public on a
monthly basis, showcasing the museum’s collection and traveling exhibits. While traveling for work, she was
fortunate to attend a 50-year retrospective of Kusama’s work at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C.,
which was the inspiration for this lecture.
