DESCRIPTION:About the Event\nHappy 94th Birthday to Yayoi Kusama! Join the JASC in a presentation about the life and art work of this legendary\nartist. This lecture will offer details of Kusama’s career\, which has spanned seven decades\, and include Kusama’s life\nin Japan\, and her travels to the United States. The presentation will feature Kusama’s art work in various formats\,\nincluding her painting\, sculpture and installation. It will also highlight her fashion projects\, and the current collaboration\nwith Louis Vuitton: Louis Vuitton® x Yayoi Kusama Collection. \nAbout the Speaker\nMary Ellen Murphy has been a Volunteer Docent with Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art for over 10\nyears. As a Volunteer supporting the museum’s education department\, she conducts tours for the public on a\nmonthly basis\, showcasing the museum’s collection and traveling exhibits. While traveling for work\, she was\nfortunate to attend a 50-year retrospective of Kusama’s work at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington\, D.C.\,\nwhich was the inspiration for this lecture. \n*The Zoom event link will be sent in the confirmation email.
