Kimusubi will delve into the world of Mizuhiki by introducing the Mizuhiki culture, including its history, motifs and their meaning. She will introduce her intricately crafted artwork and projects overseas, and give a quick demonstration of some motifs. Guests will learn how to make the “Awaji” knot and take home a beautiful origami pouch decorated with their own handmade Awaji knot as a special keepsake!
About the Speaker
Kimusubi is an internationally recognized Japanese Mizuhiki artist whose work reimagines the centuries-old tradition of Japanese decorative knot-tying through contemporary art. Her exhibitions, workshops, and live performances have been presented throughout Japan, France, Saudi Arabia, India, and Malaysia. She has collaborated with prestigious luxury brands, including demonstrations for Louis Vuitton, a Gucci opening event, and Paris Fashion Week in Tokyo. Through her artistic practice, Kimusubi celebrates the elegance of Japanese craftsmanship while fostering cultural exchange on a global stage.
