About the Event

This program will share highlights of the author’s book, “More Japan for Less.” He will dispel the misconception that a trip to Japan has to be excessively costly or limited to group tours. Morrie will provide essential information for travelers to plan a unique journey through Japan without breaking the bank. While the primary focus is on leisure travelers, business travelers can maximize their time in Japan with valuable insights into Japanese culture and etiquette.

Authored by Morrie Goldman, and edited by Leslee Goldman, the couple crafted More Japan for Less as a “guidance” book with knowledge drawn from their travels and research over the past 30 years. Its narrative approach is more user-friendly than a conventional encyclopedic guidebook format. Following the book’s structure, Morrie will guide attendees on a lively journey, offering information and practical tips for first-time or repeat visitors. Even seasoned travelers are likely to discover some intriguing insights.

Morrie will discuss trip planning, strategies to reduce travel costs, the best and worst times to visit, and insider tips on traveling like a local, and cultural advice. He will delve into accommodation options in detail, providing tips on where to save and what’s worth a splurge. For transportation within Japan, he will discuss whether the Japan Rail Pass is still valuable, as well as regional transportation options.

The formal presentation will conclude with a list of 22 essential tips to get the most out of a leisure visit to Japan.
