Join us for a unique Japanese culinary experience at Murasaki Sake Lounge. Witness the art of soba (buckwheat noodle) making by Mariko Kallister, a Chicago-based soba master. Watch her live demonstration from scratch to cutting, accompanied by Japanese Izakaya Food crafted by Chef Iwao Handa at Summertime Jazz Café, a highly skilled expert in authentic Japanese cuisine with years of mastery in Chicagoland.

About the Speaker
Mariko Kallister is Chicago’s distinctive Soba Making Specialist. Starting her journey as an event planner, she found sake tastings very fascinating. In 2011, seizing an opportunity to learn sake brewing at the legendary Dassai Sake Brewery, she also decided to learn the soba making technique, as Sake & Soba are a perfect pair in the Japanese traditional culinary world. In May 2023, Mariko was featured in the Chicago Reader as Chicago’s master of handmade soba.

Sayuri Daley grew up in Kofu Japan. She first moved to Chicago in 2002. After a long carrier in finance, she launched Sake Flight in 2023 with one goal in mind ‘to bring the true spirit of Japan’ to America. Sake is not only a liquor but a tradition and culture of Japan. She has a passion to bring quality sakes from smaller breweries with amazing stories. She believes that the high-quality beverages can be accepted as enjoyable drinks in the Mid-West.
