To mark our milestone year, the Japan America Society of Chicago will host a year-long celebration, featuring both remote and in-person events, including our 38th Annual Holiday Fundraiser and Bonenkai on December 4, 2024, at the Union League Club of Chicago. This year’s event will include the theme “The Charm of Osaka”, and will include a silent auction with some Osaka inspired items.
We are also thrilled to announce that this year’s Bonenkai will feature Dr. Hiroyuki Fujita, a distinguished leader in Japan-U.S. relations, as our special guest speaker. With an illustrious career dedicated to strengthening ties between Japan and the U.S., Dr. Fujita has been a driving force in fostering people-to-people, business-to-business, and university-to-university connections. His work includes influential roles within the U.S.-Japan Council and the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association network.
All proceeds will benefit Society programs such as Japanese language classes, young professional initiatives, and scholarships. Additionally, your contributions will enable us to host in-person, hybrid, and virtual events featuring prominent thought leaders who provide valuable insights into U.S.-Japan relations.

We are excited to announce that the Japan America Society of Chicago’s Silent Auction is now live, and we invite you to start bidding on our amazing items! This is the first time we’re hosting the auction online, and we’ve put together easy-to-follow directions for anyone who may be a first-time or infrequent user of Auctria, the app we’re using for the silent auction.
The auction is now open, and you can start placing bids immediately through the Auctria app. The auction will run from 12pm on November 27 through 7:30pm on December 4. Detailed instructions on how to participate are here, but please note the following key points:

● During the reception at the Bonenkai on December 4, there will be a special opportunity to view the auction items in person. You can also use the Auctria app to place bids directly from the event.
● The auction is cash-less, and all transactions will be processed electronically. All proceeds support our ongoing programs and events.
● In-person winners can pick up your item(s) on December 4 at 9:30 pm on the 5th floor. Online winners can pick up your item(s) at the Japan America Society of Chicago office Tuesday – Thursday (9:00 am-5:00 pm). Please email Erika Kono at [email protected] to make alternative arrangements.
