Where is the closest parking lot?
Chicago Location:Parking is available on the street (meter) at designated times. The closest parking lot is on Madison and LaSalle.
How can I get to the Society by train?
Both CTA and METRA. Please visit www.transitchicago.com for best CTA routes.
SKILLS/CLASS STRUCTURE
How do I know which level I should take?
The Society does not offer exams to test students language ability. We recommend that you register for the class that best suits your needs with the flexibility to move levels the following week if needed.
Will I receive homework if I miss a class?
Yes. The instructor will send students homework if they miss a class.
Is the language instructor a native Japanese speaker?
Yes. The instructor is a native Japanese speaker.
How often do classes meet?
Once a week for 8 weeks. Class term might vary during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday.
Is there a minimum class size?
Yes. Minimum class size is 3 students. If a class minimum is not reached, students will receive a full refund.
Can I receive college credit for a class?
No. Not at this time.
Can children attend the classes?
We recommend that students be at least 16 years of age or older.
PAYMENT
Can I receive a refund if I decide to quit class in the middle of the term?
No. Students can receive a full refund if they cancel within 24 hours of first class. Students must contact Society office within this time frame.
If I already have the text book can I receive a discount?
No. All text books are included in the overall price of the class.
How can I pay for a class?
Pre-payment is required to be considered fully registered for a class. Payment can be made by check, credit card or online (PayPal). Please make check payable to the Japan America Society of Chicago, One North LaSalle Street, Suite 2475, Chicago, IL 60602.
