DESCRIPTION:About the Event\nJapanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will make an official visit to the US on April 10.  This visit is expected to show that the US and Japan stand united in upholding the rule-based international order.  The U.S. and Japan have become global partners in a time of the international order being challenged\, based on “Kizuna\,” the strong bond of trust and friendship that has been nurtured over decades by multiple layers of human connections.  The foundation of “kizuna” is critical to an enduring U.S.-Japan partnership that will weather the storm of global uncertainty. \nAbout the Speaker\nMr. Jun Yanagi assumed his post as Consul-General of Japan in Chicago in August 2023. Mr. Yanagi joined the Ministry\nof Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan in 1988\, and since then\, has served in diplomatic assignments in Nigeria\, Australia\,\nRussia\, Canada\, Vietnam\, and Vienna. In Japan\, Mr. Yanagi served as the director of the Western European Division of\nMOFA\, Professor at Tohoku University\, and as the Deputy of Cabinet Intelligence. He read law at Tokyo University and\nearned his masters of PPE at Oxford University.
