About the Event:

Come join Young Professionals Committee members and guests for an informal self-guided tour of the Yokohama-e: 19th –Century Prints of Americans in Japan exhibit. “The array of prints featured in this exhibition emerged from the specific historical events initiated when a fleet commandeered by US Commodore Matthew C. Perry first landed in Japan in 1853”.

“Prints known as Yokohama-e, or “pictures of Yokohama,” soon capitalized on the novelty of the people and goods coming into the busy international port”.

Come meet the group at 6:00 pm by the main staircase inside the Art Institute – Michigan Avenue entrance. We recommend leaving ample time to get your free ticket at the ticket area.
