Japanese Craft Beer Tasting

About the Event
Come join the Japan America Society of Chicago’s Young Professionals Committee for a virtual presentation and tasting of Japanese craft beers. Event will include a quick beer history, a review of craft beer in Japan, tips on how to taste beer, and will end with some notes on notable Japanese beers and beers that can be found locally. A short Q&A session and virtual Happy Hour will follow the presentation.
Beers for tasting (optional) will include Yoho Brewing “Tokyo Black” porter and “Sorry Umami” beer brewed with bonito flakes. Beers can be purchased at Bottles and Can via curbside pick-up. Attendees can feel free to taste additional Japanese craft beers and ask questions during the Happy Hour. The event will be guided by Daniel Morales, a home brewer, columnist and all around beer otaku. Zoom information and information to purchase beer will be emailed to all confirmed attendees.
About the Speaker
Daniel Morales is a Japan expert and beer otaku. Mr. Morales is currently International Programs Manager at the Institute of Real Estate Management and previously worked at the Consulate-General of Japan in Chicago. He regularly contributes to the Japan Times Bilingual Page on Japanese language and is an accomplished home brewer. His article “Beer Essentials” discussing Japan’s craft beer boom appeared in the Japan Times newspaper on June 4, 2016.
