SUMMARY:Corporate Social Responsibility from Japan to the U.S.
DESCRIPTION:About the Event\nCorporate Social Responsibility\, or CSR\, is a form of self-regulation that reflects a business’s accountability and commitment to contributing to the well-being of communities and society through various environmental and social measures. Japanese companies have been contributing to society in both Japan and the United States. Ms. Havlicek will highlight Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation’s grantmaking in the US\, along with Mitsubishi Electric’s charitable giving and volunteer efforts in both Japan and the US and why it is an important part of the corporate strategy. She will also focus on the impact CSR efforts have on a company culture\, local nonprofits\, and the environment. \nAbout the Speaker\n\nWith over 15 years of experience in corporate philanthropy\, Tara MP Havlicek serves as Program Manager for the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation where she focuses on national grantmaking and corporate employee volunteer programs. The mission of the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation is to help young people with disabilities maximize their potential and participation in society with a focus on empowering youth with disabilities through increased employment. Tara also contributes to the field of grantmaking as Co-Chair of the Midwest Region with PEAK Grantmaking where she facilitates conversations and presents at regional meetings and annual conferences focused on process improvement\, diversity\, and inclusion. She serves as an advisor with the National Disability Mentoring Coalition and a mentor with the Psychology Department at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to her role at the Foundation\, she worked in HR and Administration with Mitsubishi Electric Automation in Vernon Hills\, IL\, where she was responsible for employee relations and organizing corporate social and philanthropic events. \nTara graduated with a B.S. in Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign.
